One in five large enterprises report significant transformative network deployments
Ovum’s Enterprise Network Services Survey, a global study of 423 enterprise ICT decision-makers, finds that 20% of enterprises now report significant deployment of software defined WAN (SD-WAN); 17% of enterprises use some form of network functions virtualization (NFV) in the cloud, and 10% now have a significant NFV deployment on-premises.
In many cases, early enterprises adopters tap service providers to help stand up these network platforms. But in many more cases, enterprises go directly to vendors, solutions partners and other suppliers.

“The early adoption curve is ramping up quickly for both SD-WAN and NFV. Ovum found remarkably consistent take rates for SD-WAN and NFV across all the countries and regions we surveyed,” said Brian Washburn, Ovum’s Enterprise Services Practice Leader for Network Transformation and Cloud.
“The challenge for service providers is to stay in front of these fast-growing market opportunities. Providers have the expertise to play a key role helping enterprises realize the benefits from these new technologies, whether applications performance management and reporting visibility from SD-WAN, or function/feature flexibility and on-demand scaling from NFV.”
